Our printable Jar of Joy {PDF} is the perfect solution to bored or squabbling children! This digital product contains a jar label and 40 activities in 5 fun categories, to print at home.
The activities consist of 8 Lego challenges, 8 STEM missions, 8 conversation starters, 8 movement tasks and 8 outdoor quests! The Lego tasks can be easily extended and the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) tasks can develop into quite a project! The activities are intended to spark imagination and promote independent thought and creativity. You child may even be inspired to think of some additional task to put in the jar themselves.
Using the Jar of Joy {PDF} couldn’t be easier. Simply print the activities, attach the label to a clean jar, snip and fold the activities and pop them in. Any time your child is bored, pass them the jar! It’s ideal for using at weekends or during school holidays, particularly if you are short on time to prep activities in advance.
Your children can enjoy the activities lucky dip style, or use the colour coding to pick an activity of a certain type. The activities are suitable for children aged 5+ with adult support as appropriate. For children aged 7-11 these activities should be mostly independent.
The Jar of Joy {PDF} is designed to be very open-ended, allowing children to complete the challenges at their own level. This resource will encourage children to think, move, create and imagine. If you have multiple children, they can work individually to stimulate independence, or work together as a team – both of which are vital life skills.
